Introvert

Salam and hi peeps,

I have a confession: I am an introvert. I never thought I am an introvert. Not until I saw 9gag strips about introvert people. hahaha

I always know that I am a quiet person, not necessarily I am shy. I am just quiet. I don't like making small chit chat, especially meaningless chit chat. I would rather play with my phone rather than talking to people besides me. I don't like to speak up when I am in a large group either. silly me. people think I'm stupid, know nothing.

But I am talkative too. Just when I am with certain people or with family members. I love talking about random things.

I hate concerts, I hate crowded places, I hate loud music, I hate babies crying, I hate people yelling. I just LOVE silence. But not too silent haha. It would be creepy when you can hear your own breathing noises. I feel recharged when I am alone, doing my own thing, in my own space. I love having my own space.

I realised that I fell sick when I live somewhere that is not my home for more than a week. I don't know why. Just my body telling me that I should go back, crawling in my own little crib maybe. weird me.

I am damn sure there are a lot of people like me. Suffering in this world that never stops talking. Its difficult to be an introvert as people always have certain expectations from you. You are pressured to talk. Well, I am. Its stressful for me when I feel like I need to talk but I don't want too. People even think I am arrogant sometimes. bluergh. whatever.

I hope people will realised that everyone is not the same. just not the same....

O&G?

Salam and hi,

The petition about putting female doctors and nurses in maternity room and wards has caught my attention. It seems like many female medical students/doctors/public have opinionated their views regarding this matter in social media like Fb. Well ade gak male species yg kasi opinion but tak ramai. hewhew. Most importantly, I am not surprised that most of their opinions were rather emotionally written.

I learned that most of the people yg agree with the petition adalah non-medical people and ahli agama regardless gender. Antara arguments diorang ialah: (hanyalah rekaan semata-mata tiada kena mengena dgn yg hidup atau yg day meninggal dunia)

"Aurat dan maruah itu penting!"
"Suami saya takmau orang lain (Lelaki) tengok and sentuh saya"
"Saya malu sgt bile doktor lelaki buat vaginal examination kt sy"
"Isteri saya untuk sy sorang. bukan untuk org lain tengok"
"Kalau doktor lelaki tgk aurat isteri sy, nnt diorg leh terangsang? erkk"

On the other hand, orang yg against the petition are mostly FEMALE medical students/doctors and other healthcare professionals yang tau banyak about Malaysia healthcare system and obsgyn. Surprise surprise! hehe. Antara arguments diorang pulak ialah:

"Its too optimistic untuk buat semua orang in ObsGyn to be female. Mana cukup orang"
"ObsGyn punye training da la lame gile, susah and banyak on-call lagi. Susah la kalau female doctor yang ade family tu nak focus untuk anak-anak and suami if most of the time jage org beranak je"
"Doktor lelaki pun perlu latihan menyambut kelahiran baby. Habes nnt emergency takde doktor perempuan sape nak sambut? Suami la sambut ek :p"
"If nak doktor perempuan, better pergi ke private la kot. jgn harap sgt la kat government kan"

To be fair, mmg nampak la concern massing-masing dlm hal ni. Ada reason massing-masing dalam pemberian hujah mereka. hehe.

In my opinion as a humble medical student who hates O&G, I really think the petition is too optimistic. People keep comparing Malaysia healthcare system versus NHS UK healthcare system. I am proud (because Malaysians' awareness have increased) and agree that we should look upon a better system but unfortunately, Malaysia is still is too far behind in terms of resources. One of the suggestion that I can think of to improve the situation ialah to increase the number of midwives. In UK, midwives yg majority nye perempuan mmg pakar dalam hal-hal bersalin ni (low-risk pregnancy la). So, takdela teruk sgt doctor2 nak attend kan (lelaki or perempuan). And, doctor hanya akan dtg if ade complications and emergency. Better for patient and for the doctors gak :D

Tapi, this thing kan takes time. So, in the meantime, probably best to open our mind and have faith in Allah. Doa agar Allah akan tutup aib and jaga maruah kita. I know sng cakap tak senang buat kan. I pon takde pengalaman beranak lagi haha. Tapi katakanlah time I beranak nanti ada/dapat doctor laki kan, the best thing to do is to be positive. You are not there not only for you, you are there for the baby. So, I don't mind whatever it takes as long as the the baby is alright. Doktor laki ke perempuan ke, tak kisahlah. Allah knows best :D and trust me, doctor laki pun takde lah enjoy pun tgk pemandangan org beranak. nae best.  haha. and kalau nak extra prepare and kurangkan malu kalau ade doctor laki, request la for female nurses or family members to be with you. untuk kasi kata-kata semangat. Lagi satu, to reduce the humiliation, take good care of the hygiene of your down below la kan. Common sense hehe

Sorry if you think my writing is so out of the place or tak manis dibaca. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for reading

Stress management: DIY studs

Hi,

Buat medic undeniably sangat stressful most of the time. Bukan at times ye, most of the times. Mostly this is due to study load yang banyak, workload- Leeds suke sangat suruh students buat essay especially Literature Review (now every month kene hantar satu bluuerrghh), penat ulang alik placement yang jauh especially bile 5th year ni NHS takde bajet sangat nak kasi accommodation and stress dengan group mates yang pandai-pandai belaka.

So, now I try my best to be positive, tenangkan fikiran, lapangkan dada dengan buat hobi kegemaran during weekend. Just to keep me sane. Usually, I love baking. But living with just us, two people, its kinda expensive sometimes to buy the ingredients. Lagi murah beli kek siap. LOL. Morrisons choc cake only 3 pounds yang sedap. Beli cooking chocolate utk cake pun 3 pounds gak, belum beli tepung gula whatever lagi utk siapkan sebijik cake haha So yeah. I only bake for special occasion only now. Just for the personal touch ;)

My latest hobby is DIY-ing. Because I am kedekut, I selalunye cari project project DIY yang murah-murah je. haha. My latest DIY is putting studs on my old-boring-looking cardigan. For my first trial, I letak studs ni kat bahu je. Google ajar.

I just learned that studs ni murah je rupanya. The cost for a new studded cardigan can easily be more than 20 pounds. Kat ebay I bought 100 studs for just 2 pound lebih. Buy three for the price of two. Berbaloi jugak lah letak studs ni because its a mindless job and can be addictive too!! In the end, I got a more edgy looking cardigan. hewhew. So, its not just a hobby it can saves you money too.

From my boring-looking cardigan (left) to a better looking one (right)

my other cardigan yang jadi mangsa :D

Now I am buying more studs yang rupe lain skit for my other clothes. Hehe. So, if you are stressed and feels like doing something meaningful (at least for me), have a try. Who knows :)

bye now taaa~

5th Year Medical Student

Salam and hi,

I have not been writing in my blog for aaagees now. I mean yes, literally about 2 years. Right after I got married to be exact. It felt somehow good to be back.

Last year was not so good academically. I struggled a bit to get through the year. But Alhamdulillah, I managed to pass. All praise to Allah. In Leeds, we have something called sequential test. Its an additional test for those who did not do so well in the first attempt of examination, not necessarily meant that they have failed though. I thought I got bare pass for my first exam. Thats why I have to sit for the sequential. I have to do the OSCE one (thank god!) cause doing the written examination for the second time would be worser for me.

We have all kind of specialties rotations in 4th year. They were obs&gynae&sexual health, paediatrics, acute and critical care, cancer and continuing care, and psychiatry. Of all these 5 rotations, I did not like any one of them. Poor me. I literally thinking about quiting medicine all year long. That bad.

Now, in 5th year. I think things has improved. I learned to like my rotation now. I have cardiology and gastroenterology these 2 months in Pinderfields hospital. I need to mention that this hospital is absolutely superb! They have free breakfast everyday. free shuttle from leeds to the hospital, free lunch occasionally, free drinks everyday (my favourite is ribena!), and they have a proper prayer room inside the hospital (a real necessity for me). The people in here also are a bit nicer than the previous hospitals that I have been to. I don't want to mention any names. hewhew

However, the negative thing about the rotation is the SSC. We need to produce 3000 words SSC in 2 weeks time, have to find our own time without compromising the placement. Its a madness. I am so plagiarising everything to write my ssc. And I just hope I'll pass all of them.

ok thats it. bye2
